Membership:
Membership is open to those over 50 years of age, however under 50’s are welcome as Associate Members. Membership fees of $10.00 are due annually by April 1st. Members over 85 years are considered “Life Members” of the Club and will pay no further membership dues.

Activities:
From year to year the activities vary, in part depending on the interests of the membership. Bid Euchre on Thursday’s and Euchre on Friday’s are played year round and the time varies based on the season.
The Club has 9 general meetings a year with a pot luck lunch on the 4th Friday of most months, often followed by a guest speaker
The Club organizes several annual activities including the summer BBQ and corn roast. Past events have included a trip to see the Northern lights, a winery tour, lunch at the Wiarton Airport, ladies trips to Tobermory in June for a couple of nights, stays at Niagara Falls, visit to the Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular day, movie nights at the hall, and attending plays at the Bruce County Playhouse.
History:
The building at the corner of the Sauble Parkway and County Road 13 (5 Bryant St) was built as a one room school. In 1966 when the school SS#12 Amabel was closed; Bertha Hyatt, Bernice Pew’s mother contacted the Board and arranged to secure the building as a community hall for $1.00, deed to the Oliphant Women’s Institute. In 1976 a new kitchen and washrooms were added and in 2004 a front entrance was added along with a ramp at the side of the building to make the building wheelchair accessible.
The Oliphant Young at Heart Club was formed on May 17, 1977 as a volunteer organization. Bertha Hyatt was the first President and Franklin May the treasurer. The Club started with 12 members and as of 2024 has 91 members.
Organization structure:
Positions in the organization is entirely on a volunteer basis with no one being paid a stipend. The structure is a past president, president, vice president, treasurer, secretary and committees for programs, cards, social, phone and sunshine.
